What to do straight away

If somebody has died at home most people will immediately let close family know what has happened and call their doctor if that doctor or anybody from the emergency services is not already present.

If the death was expected then the doctor or paramedics will ask you to call your funeral director having pronounced somebody as deceased. We will then be able to talk to you regarding what will happen next, advise you about registering a death, ask you for some basic details about your loved-one and arrange to come and collect them.

If the death was in any way unexpected the doctor or paramedics may well call in the services of the Coroner whose job will be to establish the exact cause of death and the Coroner will arrange for your loved one to be taken away to a nearby hospital in order to complete their investigations.
